The Admissions Counselor serves as a member of Southern Wesleyan University’s On-campus program admissions team and is responsible for the recruitment of first year and transfer students. Admissions Counselors are responsible for the achievement of assigned recruitment goals in a manner that supports the enrollment goals and upholds the mission of the university.
Serves as the primary recruitment representative for assigned first year freshmen and/or transfer students.
Responsible for the achievement of goals related to net tuition, academic qualifications and the recruitment of students annually.
Responsible for the management of assigned geographic recruitment territories along with travel required annually for college fairs, church events, school visits and other recruitment activities.
Manages a new student prospect pool of approximately 2,000 to 3,000 prospective students as part of the assigned enrollment funnel.
Organizes and conducts individual campus visits and conducts group campus visits as needed.
Works closely with Associate Director of Admissions to coordinate regularly scheduled visit days and other recruitment events.
Responsible for having a working knowledge of all applicable student aid opportunities and regulations.
Works with the Office of Financial Aid to confirm that assigned students have received all information concerning federal, state and private financial aid options.
Responsible for meeting weekly call goals with evening phone calls throughout the recruitment cycle focused on conversion of prospective students to application status, with subsequent calls to focus on specific enrollment requirements and processes.
Maintain strict adherence with NCAA Division Il rules and regulations relating to the conduct and administration of the department.
Assist with maintaining the student information database by entering relevant data and logging completed communication with potential students and parents.
Other duties assigned.
A bachelor’s degree is required with prior experience in marketing, sales or recruitment preferred. A background in higher education is preferred.
Must possess demonstrated management skills.
This position requires the team member to function at a high level of organized proficiency and handle multiple, essential tasks simultaneously.
Strong communications skills and relational abilities are essential.
Must be a goal oriented self-starter with the ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently.

Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends
Must be willing and able to travel within the Southeastern U.S.; a clean driving record is required.

Ability to sit for periods of time in an interior office environment.

Employee will infrequently work outside of regular work schedule for special events.
