Trinity University (San Antonio, TX) seeks applications for an Admissions Counselor. The position will be available June 1. Interviews will begin immediately.
Candidates should have an exceptional work ethic, desire and willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends, strong organizational and analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills both in-person and virtually, an interest in working in higher education, and an appreciation for and ability to speak to the value of the liberal arts. The position requires both independent and collaborative work, creativity, flexibility, and technical proficiency. The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree and have a valid driver’s license due to travel requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
An Admissions Counselor’s primary role is to assist the Office of Admissions with meeting enrollment goals by working with prospective students, parents, and counselors in the recruitment of students. Responsibilities include recruitment travel, virtual programming, and prospect management within assigned territories, application and scholarship review, interviews with and presentations to prospective students and families, working with constituency groups to achieve enrollment goals, and supervision of assigned projects.
Reports to: Associate Director of Admissions
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively represent Trinity in a positive manner to both internal and external audiences.
Ability to quickly learn the university, as well as admissions and financial aid procedures and policies, and accurately present information to prospective students, parents, and high school counselors.
Strong communication skills and the ability to persuasively communicate the value of Trinity’s education to various constituencies.
Ability to take initiatives and work independently to meet job requirements, as well as working collaboratively with others to meet enrollment goals.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to create and develop programs promoting Trinity to various constituencies.
Strong critical reasoning and analytical skills, particularly as it pertains to territory management, application review, and overseeing assigned projects.
Strong technical skills and the ability to learn Slate and Colleague.
Ability to lift file boxes and literature cases with supplies.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to speak to the value of a liberal arts experience.
Required: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
Licenses and Certifications
Required: Must possess a valid US Driver’s License and have a good driving history. May not have more than two moving violations in a three-year period.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Required: Willingness to travel and work evening and weekend hours to meet job requirements.
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
