This position will live and work in the Portland, Oregon area.
A Southern Oregon University (SOU) Regional Admissions Counselor is responsible for the planning and execution of a territory in a defined region and is based in an assigned area. This position requires one to work with prospective high school and transfer students and their families independently in schools and other venues regularly, make decisions, and manage their territory. They must be able to work with little or no supervision while recruiting students and be able to explain SOU policies independent of direct supervisor, while traveling. They must interact effectively with diverse prospective students, parents, high school and community college counselors, and the community to ensure all questions and needs are addressed in a timely manner. They will participate in the recruitment, admissions, and matriculation of new students to Southern Oregon University and will develop plans, maintain a budget, coordinate events, communicate with students, families, counselors, colleagues, and their supervisor regularly. They must understand and represent SOU academic programs, college admission requirements, residency requirements, housing services, athletics, student activities, and other aspects of the University. They will schedule recruitment and travel plans, and file reimbursements and paperwork. They will do this while working from their home and remotely from campus. The successful person should enjoy hard work, like being part of a team, and have an understanding of the admissions profession as well as have previous experience in recruitment.

Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to: 

Assisting with publications and website updates. 

Help with managing social media efforts, work with volunteers, and provide support for the Associate Director and Director of Admissions. 

Manage home office duties which including storing and tracking inventory of recruitment materials, responsible for issued equipment (ex: laptop, printer, etc.). 

This position requires the ability to travel and work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
