The Undergraduate Office of Admissions is seeking a highly motivated, focused, and
results-oriented regional Admissions Counsel. This position will represent the University of
Minnesota to prospective students, prospective student families, and high school officials in
Dallas and other key cities in Texas, and other targeted states of the U.S., while providing
customer service to prospective students from a variety of geographical locations and
identities, including racial and ethnic backgrounds.This position will be based in Dallas/ Fort
Worth and will recruit primarily from the Dallas and Austin metro areas, with other possible
market development in Texas.
This is a full-time, P&A, non-exempt position. Salary range is $50,000 - $60,000 depending
on qualifications. This includes an excellent benefits package including

personal holiday in addition to the existing 11 University holidays.
TERMS: This is a 100% time, annually renewable, academic administrative position
(classification 9351AC).

JOB DUTIES:
â— Serve as one-stop contact for freshman admissions; provide advising and assistance
throughout the admission process to students, family members, and high school
counselors.
â— Build relationships with school counselors and alumni volunteers. Recruit and
facilitate enrollment of prospective national undergraduate students.
â— Plan, participate, and work with national student recruitment outreach efforts
primarily in Dallas/ Fort Worth, Austin, other key cities in Texas, and potentially other
targeted states of the U.S.
â— Serve as a presenter at high school programs, recruitment events, and counselor
meetings.
â— Provide admissions counseling to prospective students, parents, and school
counselors.
â— Perform application review and evaluate academic and other credentials for
admission decision and counseling purposes.
â— Successfully implement various national admissions and recruitment projects.
â— Travel to MN as needed for recruitment and enrollment trainings, meetings, and
events.
â— Implement extensive recruitment and relationship building efforts utilizing written,
telephone, and in-person communication to prospective students, applicants,
admitted students, school counselors, and alumni volunteers.
â— Execute and meet expected goals for assigned outreach campaigns consistently
throughout the recruitment process.
â— Train local alumni volunteers to participate in ongoing recruitment efforts in Texas,
and targeted states of the U.S.
â— Collect data, assess progress/results and prepare reports related to recruitment
initiatives to determine effectiveness.
â— Participate in weekly phone and email conversations with supervisor and participate
in office staff meetings.
â— Meet all office-wide requirements for diversity, equity and inclusion work and
professional development as identified by supervisor and DEI Office Committee.
â— Travel outside of Texas as needed for national student recruitment outreach efforts
as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
â— Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant work experience, regional territory
management experience preferred.
â— Must have a valid driver's license or consistent and reliable transportation to travel
regionally in Texas
â— Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice
in practice as part of personal growth and development.
â— Must be able to travel regionally and nationally, sometimes overnight, for extended
periods of time.
â— Must be able to work evenings/weekends and some holidays as needed.
â— Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
â— Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking
experience.
â— Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
â— Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate recruiting plans.
â— Demonstrated ability to analyze and use data to guide work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
â— Preference given to candidates with University of Minnesota experience defined
broadly such as former student, graduate, employee, or community member of any
campus.
