Responsible to the Associate Director for Recruitment for representing ETSU to a diverse group of freshman, transfer, and returning students; recruitment of prospective students in a specified territory; coordinating high school and community college visitation programs and events incorporating formal and informal presentations and public speaking engagements with high school and community college counselors and advisors, administrators, students, and parents; and, supporting student retention. The Admissions Counselor serves as a front-line service provider with primary in-office student admission counseling, recruitment travel, and communication with prospective students.

The incumbent in this position serves as a member of the general recruiting staff and is responsible for recruiting of all prospective students within a set geographic territory as well as other general recruiting duties such as assisting with campus visits and events.   Additionally, the incumbent will be the creative lead for recruitment targeting minority, first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented populations.  These efforts – including events, partnership building, and communication strategies – will be supported by admissions leadership and staff.  The admissions counselor works collaboratively with departments at ETSU who focus on meeting the needs of diverse student populations including the Multicultural Center, Language Culture Resource Center, academic departments and colleges, and student services units. 

If possible, the incumbent would often provide focused service to non-English speaking students and families and is able to correspond with them in both English and Spanish.
