Mars Hill University is a private, four-year liberal arts institution located in the mountains of western North Carolina. Founded in 1856 by Baptist families of the region, it is the oldest institution of higher learning in western North Carolina on its original site.

Summary:
Working with the traditional, adult, and graduate populations, this position introduces students and their families to Mars Hill University and assists through the entire process from inquiry to enrollment. This position will manage roughly 500-600 applicants per year, by maintaining consistent communication (verbal and written) with prospective students and pertinent departments at MHU. The preferred method of communication with prospective students is by telephone, but we also emphasize emailing, text messaging and other electronic forms of communication. This position meets with prospective students and their families for campus visits and give campus tours. Participation in community outreach, college fairs and other recruitment/marketing events occurs throughout the year; traveling overnights for 5-7 weeks of the year, and traveling locally for day visits on a regular basis. Maintaining relationships with outside partners (guidance counselors, school systems, community partners, teachers, etc.) in a recruitment territory/population is required. This position includes extended support in event planning and implementation for all admissions-related campus events, travel, and other activities as assigned. The schedule is Monday through Friday, normally with an 8 hour shift each day. Particular weekday hours vary throughout the recruitment cycle, with some days where hours exceed an 8-hour shift. There is also a regular rotation of working on Saturdays to accommodate campus visitors, with additional Saturday work days for campus visit days, orientation days, and other recruitment related events. This position includes other duties, as assigned, throughout the recruitment cycle.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Basic knowledge of college admissions and financial aid
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to adapt quickly to other software pertaining to admissions, recruitment and financial aid
- Accountable and dependable, able to show up to work on time, prepared to work
- Understanding of confidentiality associated with the position
- Ability to self-direct/motivate and work independently to reach individual goals
- Ability to collaborate with the group to reach common goals
- Ability to easily work with diverse populations of students and colleagues
- Detail oriented
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in college admissions or outside sales preferred
- General knowledge of the principles and practices of student enrollment and admissions
- Experience in planning, scheduling, and implementing events, as well as managing and coordinating calendars
