The Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is seeking a Coordinator of Pre-collegiate Engagement.

The Office of Student Engagement contributes to the development of a vibrant, new student engagement and success center, focused on enabling students in the Haslam College of Business to achieve higher value-added educational outcomes, employment, career progression opportunities, and to develop their leadership potential and capabilities. Building on an existing portfolio of current Haslam student engagement, this new expansion will address engaging prospective students and families throughout the pre-collegiate engagement and on-boarding stages, including campus visits and initial interest, post acceptance to the University and Haslam, confirmation of attendance, new student orientation, and Welcome Week. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee and the Haslam College of Business is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

The Pre-collegiate Engagement Coordinator will contribute to the mission of increasing meaningful engagement with and growth of the Haslam College of Business undergraduate student population. The coordinator will manage and execute the College’s pre-collegiate engagement and on-boarding strategy working with the Director of Student Engagement on initiatives and programming. They will collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to offer programming and information to prospective students and families. The coordinator will recruit, train, and provide day-to-day supervision of Haslam Ambassadors. They will contribute to the development of strategies and processes that support the Haslam College of Business’ emergent plan for pre-collegiate and on-boarding engagement. Responsibilities include marketing and promotions of the Haslam College of Business, planning and engaging prospective students and families to Haslam College of Business programs and campus-visits, meeting with prospective students and families, participating in new student orientation and Welcome Week planning.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required in business, student services or related field. At least four years of work experience working in higher education, student services, academic advising, recruiting, enrollment management, or related field. A master’s degree may substitute for two years’ work experience. Experience in supervision, implementing projects or project management, and leadership. Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Excellent written and oral formal/informal communication skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work periodic evening and weekend hours.

Desired Qualifications:

Previous supervisory experience. Work experience in related and professional field. Experience working in an environment similar to an undergraduate business advising office, enrollment management, or similar experience. Familiarity with an undergraduate business curriculum. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, design software and information technologies used for student record keeping.
