Amherst College invites applications for the Assistant Dean of Admission position. The Assistant Dean of Admission is a full-time, year-round position, starting at $52,145-commensurate with experience. This position is eligible to participate in the College's hybrid work program during the pilot period (August 2021-June 2022) and can be done either as a full-time on-campus role or as a hybrid role with some work completed remotely in Massachusetts and some on-campus work required. Amherst College invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Admission. The Assistant Dean of Admission is an exciting position within the Amherst College Office of Admission, with significant responsibility in enrolling two of Amherst College's most significant populations. The Assistant Dean will lead and be the point person for the College's partnership with QuestBridge, the leading national non-profit serving high-achieving, low-income students, and will also play a significant role in the enrollment of talented prospective student-athletes. In addition to these specialized responsibilities, the Assistant Dean serves as one of the Admission Deans, does outreach for Amherst College, and is a full voting member of the Admission Committee.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Recruitment and Admission
Conduct in-person and virtual presentations and workshops for diverse groups of up to 250 prospective students, guests and counselors
Develop recruitment strategies and coordinate travel in assigned geographic markets, which may include international travel
Cultivate relationships with high-school counselors and Community Based Organizations within specific geomarkets
Work in pairs or as part of a team to evaluate a diverse set of first-year and transfer applicants.
Oversee application evaluation within assigned geomarkets
Participate as a voting member of the admission committee
Oversight of assigned recruitment travel and communication
Coordinate the Questbridge Program partnership and outreach
As a supporting member of the athletics admission team
Valid Driver's License and successful credentialing is required in order to operate college vehicles
2 - 3 years of experience in higher education admission or a related field
The ability to work with constituencies from varied racial, ethnic, educational, and economic backgrounds
Strong presentation skills; can bring to life programming that tells the story of a dynamic residential liberal arts environment to a wide-ranging audience
Ability to articulate the benefits of a liberal arts education to a diverse audience
Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills and able to communicate effectively with varied constituencies, including prospective applicants, parents, high school counselors, alumni, faculty and staff
Proficiency in and ability to quickly learn and apply software (e.g., Google Workspace/Microsoft Office, Slack, Workday, Zoom)
Ability to exercise good judgment and think independently while working in a dynamic team environment
Excellent time-management and organizational skills including the flexibility to balance multiple priorities with reliable attention to detail
Travel approximately 15 - 20 days for recruitment (may include international travel) including driving to/from high schools and college fairs for recruitment
Ability to handle confidential information with respect and discretion
Experience with admission management systems and relational databases such as the CRM Slate
Experience with creating, implementing and assessing strategic programs and initiatives
Fluency in a language in addition to English
