Job Description:
Reports to the Director of Admissions. The Associate Director of Admissions for Recruitment is charged with leading the recruiting team which is tasked with implementing the institution’s recruitment strategy for domestic, international, and transfer students resulting in meeting or exceeding new and transfer student enrollment targets. The Associate Director supervises, trains, and coordinates a team of admissions recruiters who are deployed to recruit prospective students from the Mount’s primary, secondary and tertiary markets as well as affinity groups, like home school students, and community colleges, international markets and other four-year institutions. This requires the Associate Director and recruiting team to communicate with the prospective students’ influencers (high school counselors, parents, etc.) while engaging these audiences with a variety of events and communications. The Associate Director is part of the leadership team in the Office of Admissions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Some of the major responsibilities include:
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of recruiters and develop a team of admissions counselors who are responsible for engaging in recruitment activities with prospective students and their influencers throughout the entire enrollment cycle.
- Must be proficient in delivering motivational presentations to both large and small groups of high school students and their parents.
- Be knowledgeable and take responsibility to ensure that all areas of territory management are managed properly within specific recruitment territories. These include building relationships with high schools, guidance counselors and community partners; visiting high schools and attending college fairs to meet prospective students and families; assisting students from assigned area throughout the admissions process.
- Collaborate with peers within the leadership team in the Office of Admissions as well as other campus constituents at all levels of service to the institution. Take responsibility for a specific recruitment territory and/or special recruitment strategy, such as international student recruitment.
- Participate in the success of all other on-campus recruitment programs (i.e., Open House Programs, Financial Aid Programs, Accepted Students' Day programs, etc.)
- Participate the evaluation and review of admission applications.
- Conduct individual interviews with prospective students and their parents.
- Accountable for providing strategy, metrics, and ongoing creative engagement regarding recruiting domestic, international, and transfer students.
- Along with other Admissions officers, work as a team player to develop and implement new strategies to attract and yield enough applicants to reach or exceed the department’s goals.
- Stay current with topics relating to job effectiveness through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts, attending professional conferences, and attending workshops or trainings.
- Assist the Director of Admissions with the general administrative responsibilities of managing the Office of Admissions.
- Contribute to the success of the Office of Admissions by supporting the other teammates including in all aspects relating to the recruitment of new and transfer students and by performing all other essential duties as assigned. Serve as a general knowledge base for admissions policies and practices.
Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:
The appointed individual:
- Has a bachelor’s degree with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Has 5+ years of applicable experience, preferably in admissions, sales, or higher education, with preference given to current Slate users.
- Has experience managing and motivating individuals to reach goals.
- Consistently exercises sound judgment, demonstrate ethical conduct, and can work independently and in a team setting. Must have ability to work under pressure in a demanding academic environment. Ideal candidates will be flexible, creative, and energetic. Ability to establish effective working procedures and systems is essential.
- Has a commitment to and advocates for diversity, inclusion and representation within the Admissions office and processes.
- Can articulate the values of a liberal arts education in the Catholic tradition.
- Is willing to travel and work extended hours during critical admission seasons.

- Assist with general administrative responsibilities for the Admissions Office.

- Help analyze territory data to maximize recruitment efforts.
