The University of Washington Office of Admissions has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director of Admissions, for Freshman Recruitment. Admissions, a unit within the Enrollment Management, supports the Provost as well as the University of Washington community.

The Office of Admissions is seeking a talented individual who shares these values and is interested in joining our staff. The Assistant Director of Admissions leads and manages the team of Admissions Counselors ensuring a cohesive and consistent engagement strategy across all Counseling staff with prospective students, families and other influencers. The Assistant Director works as part of a team to enable the university to meet undergraduate, domestic enrollment goals; manages a specific recruitment territory, reviews student applications and represents the University to internal and external audiences. The Assistant Director is a member of the recruitment and communication leadership team that plans, oversees, executes and evaluates recruitment initiatives and strategy.
The University seeks to maintain (with aspirations of increasing) the yield of both resident and non-resident admits, while simultaneously maintaining (or increasing) the profile of the freshman class. This position is critical in developing and implementing a recruitment strategy that ensures the plan aligns with target market priority.
Areas of responsibility:
* Represent the University both on and off campus to prospective students, parents, guidance counselors and other influencers. Plan and implement recruitment activities for assigned high schools and territories, including traveling to locations in Washington and throughout the US to represent the UW; * Counsel prospective freshman, transfer, international and post baccalaureate students; responding to admissions inquiries via phone, email and in person; * Participate in the domestic freshman application review process as a reader. * Collaborate with the Senior Associate Director and Communications team to inform the communication strategy for web, print based, and e-communications including guidance counselor communications and prospective student communications. * Hire, train, supervise, and oversee the ongoing professional development of Admissions Counselors as pre-advisors, presenters, recruiters and managers of assigned recruitment territories; coordinate coverage schedule for admissions counselors (appointments, drop-in's, and Freshman information sessions). * Assist the Senior Associate Director in the development, implementation and coordination of a macro recruitment strategy. Including analyzing, assigning and evaluating recruitment travel territories; * In consultation with the Senior Associate Director, utilize recruitment data and software, to formulate and implement a data informed recruitment strategy. * Jointly manage budgets related to recruitment initiatives; including budgeting and tracking annual activity and making decisions in a manner that is fiscally responsible in meeting recruitment goals.
Requirements include:
•Bachelor's degree in Business, Counseling, Education, Communication or equivalent experience. •At least four years’ relevant experience to include supervisory experience. Experience supervising temporary, and/or student staff will be considered. •Demonstrated experience in the development and management of recruitment initiatives. •Familiarity and demonstrated success with data informed recruitment strategies. •Experience with budget planning, maintenance and review.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired:
•Master's degree in Business, Counseling, Education, Communication. •Experience recruiting, hiring, training and onboarding staff. •Strong level of comfort with CRM technology and making data informed decisions. •Involvement in state, regional, and national professional organizations.
Conditions of Employment:
•Office setting on the Seattle campus. The position requires a significant amount of time sitting at a desk and computer station, in addition to standing during presentations and college fairs/high school visits (up to three hours in some cases). •This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends; travel throughout WA and the US; and load and transport materials, displays, and other equipment (up to 50 lbs). •Must be flexible and have the drive to work in a fast-paced environment. •Strong interpersonal and writing skills are essential, as are strong public speaking skills and the ability to represent the University in a positive way to diverse audiences. •Must be comfortable with technology and have familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets and database software tools. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
