Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success, this position provides operational and strategic leadership for Chaminade University of Honolulu (CUH) to attract, recruit, and enroll students through all of the various recruitment channels, primarily focusing on undergraduate channels. The Assistant Vice President (AVP) will lead a dynamic, results-oriented, and collaborative recruitment team of professionals with responsibility for ensuring the University meets its stated admissions goals. The AVP will also be responsible for working with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure that the University meets its financial aid goals for the admitted class and will work closely with the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success (VP) and other stakeholders to develop and execute the University's strategic enrollment plan. The AVP will assist the VP and University Communication and Marketing Office in developing and managing ongoing strategic communications and marketing to prospective students as well as key stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide supervisory oversight, leadership, and direction to the team members and cultivate and develop talented team members with clear goals, expectations, and accountability by managing all functions including the hiring, training, on-boarding, performance management, and professional development of the staff;
- Work collaboratively with the VP to develop and implement an innovative, proactive, and strategic approach to new student recruitment and enrollment efforts by overseeing the functional and technical operations for the team;
- Work with VP to develop and implement a proactive strategy and plan to increase the successful recruitment of students from Hawai’i and students of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island ancestry.
- Oversee the admissions application review and evaluation process;
- In collaboration with the VP, the CFO, and the Director of Financial Aid, internally develop, oversee, and assess strategic financial aid allocation and its impact on recruitment/enrollment trends;
- Serve as a highly visible and effective spokesperson for the CUH to articulate the benefits, values and mission of the campus community to a variety of on-campus and off-campus constituents;
- Work with the VP and University Communications and Marketing on all recruitment marketing activities and initiatives including the development of recruitment publications, enrollment communications, social media activities, admission websites, etc.;
- Serve on Hui Haku and Hui Konohiki and other committees as assigned by the VP;
- Supervise the development and monitoring of statistical reports to enhance recruitment and enrollment strategies, yield management, predictive modeling and operational effectiveness;
- Strategically and responsibly manage the budget;
- Build relationships with parents, guidance counselors, academic departments, and other constituents of the Admissions team;
- Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to directly supervising mid-level and administrative staff of the Admissions team. Responsibilities also include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
The minimum job requirements for this position are:
- A Master's degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent and related experience; and,
- At least eight (8) years of recruitment/enrollment experience with at least five (5) years of increasing responsibility and management/leadership experience.

- An understanding and appreciation for the value of a small University community located in Hawai’i that serves Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students as well as students from the continental United States;
- A record of supporting and leading initiatives that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in a learning community;
- Ability and documented success in meeting admissions goals by effectively managing the admissions "pipeline" through the inquiry, application, accept, deposit, and enrolled stages;
- A history of strategic, innovative, and creative leadership, through collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders;
- Knowledge of national trends in higher education enrollment with a record of developing innovative strategies that account for current and anticipated factors;
- Experience with successfully recruiting, developing, and leading a team of talented enrollment professionals;
- Experience working in the Hawai’i market;
- Experience with developing and managing an operating budget;
- A desire and ability to serve as an effective, outward-facing champion of an institution within the context of a highly competitive landscape; and,
- Exceptional communication abilities and a propensity for building strong, lasting relationships.
- Experience using student information systems, client relationship management (CRM) systems and communication technologies to recruit and enroll students;
- Experience with Slate is preferred.
- Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet and Word Processing software. Working knowledge of Google and Outlook Suite.
Physical Requirements
Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 10 pounds, walk the campus with ease, climb a lot of stairs, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity.
Other Requirements:
Must have a valid Driver’s License. Must be able to travel off-island (inter-island and continental United States)
