Description of Key Responsibility:
1. Support a commitment to increasing the diversity of the North Central student population by developing and implementing strategies and programs, which will assist in increasing the number of visits to campus, applications for admission and the matriculation rate of diverse populations.
2. Coordinate and attend recruitment events to increase awareness and to build a diverse recruitment pipeline on and off campus and other community events assigned by the supervisor.
3. Build relationships and coordinate recruiting activities with targeted community organizations and higher education organizations.
4. Cultivate relationships with community based organizations and other community partners.
5. Interact with people in assigned territories, primarily high school juniors and seniors, who may be qualified and interested in becoming North Central College freshmen. Sources for contacts include responses to search mailings and advertisements, referrals from alumni and others, personal contacts made at high school visits and college fairs, inquiries from individuals, web inquiries and other sources. Ensure that contact is established and, where appropriate, maintained with these people by personally phoning and corresponding by mail and email with them and/or seeing that assigned student workers accomplish this task, and by meeting with them personally in a variety of settings (see below).
6. Assist other freshmen and transfer admission counselors in communicating with families from their territories when that family primarily speaks Spanish. Be available as a resource to the admission staff when a phone conversation, campus visit, or email needs to be in Spanish.
7. Provide information about the College; counsel and advise students and their parents in order to assist them in making a college choice as well as, where appropriate, guiding them through the processes of applying for admission and for financial aid. Encourage qualified students to participate in the College's scholarship and orientation programs. Maintain records of contacts made and results thereof.
8. Primarily during the fall season, visit high schools in assigned territories in order to meet personally with as many prospective students as possible. Make arrangements in advance with high school personnel and ensure that posters announcing the visits are sent to the schools and that identified prospective students at the schools are notified of the impending visit by phone and/or mail. Meet with high school guidance counselors in order to keep them informed of North Central College's activities and programs. Occasionally, meet with prospective students and their parents in their homes.
9. Provide outreach to targeted communities, as identified by the supervisor, by providing information about opportunities at North Central College such as summer camps and degree options. Establish relationships with community leaders, faith groups and cultural organizations. Collaborate with other areas on campus in these efforts.
10. Collaborate with Office of Multicultural Affairs on the cultivating of cross-cultural interpersonal relationships of students from underrepresented backgrounds.

12. Represent the College at college fairs held in assigned territories and at college fairs marketed specifically for families who primarily speak Spanish. Provide interested persons with information, including literature, about the College.
13. Encourage interested prospective students to visit the campus, either individually or during scheduled visit days, including overnight stays. Make arrangements for and, where appropriate, participate in interviews, tours, class visits, meetings with coaches and other faculty members, meals, residence hall accommodations and other activities.
14. Assist the director of admission in making decisions as to which applicants will be accepted for admission. When appropriate, suggest ways in which the process of recruiting freshmen might be made more effective.
15. Assist with the planning and conducting of admission related events such as visit days, presidential scholarship program, high school counselor visit days, athletic or academic specialty visit days and freshman orientation.
16. Assist prospective students and families regarding the process of applying for and receiving financial aid.
17. Prepare reports, perform analyses, and complete surveys regarding admission activities and results.
18. Supervise assigned student workers who perform such functions as phoning prospective students, serving as tour guides and assisting in the preparation of mailings. Assist in the selection and scheduling of these workers, provide necessary training, monitor their work and provide appropriate counseling.
19. If so assigned, perform related tasks such as overall administrative supervision of the student worker contingent, which may include volunteers, assisting other admission personnel in performing their duties such as the recruiting of transfer students.
20. Assist orientation by presenting sessions in Spanish for families who primarily speak that language.
21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Training:
A baccalaureate degree is required.
Experience:
A minimum of (3) three or more years of community outreach relatable experience is
required. Bilingual in Spanish and English, with the ability to professionally speak, write,
and translate between the two required. Microsoft Power Point, Excel, Word, web
research and electronic communication skills are strongly desired.
Licenses or Certifications:
A valid driver's license is required.
Position Summary:
To assist families whose primary language spoken at home is Spanish through the North Central College admission process. To establish and maintain contact with prospective North Central College freshmen in assigned territories by phone, written/electronic correspondence and in person in either English or Spanish as needed, in order to provide information about the College, including financial aid available on an individual basis, to counsel and advise prospective freshmen and their parents, and to assist those interested in the application process. To achieve or exceed territorial goals with regard to the number of qualified freshmen who enroll at North Central College and to assist them in making a smooth transition to college life.
The Bilingual Admission Counselor- Outreach Specialist is responsible for actively recruiting North Central College prospective students through the development of a student recruitment pipeline with various local, regional, and national community organizations and groups. The position is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive recruitment outreach plan designed to enrich the campus community by attracting and enrolling a diverse student body; serving as a representative in recruiting multicultural prospective students at off and on campus events. As a member of the campus community for North Central College, it is essential to support and foster a diverse, inclusive and civil community of outstanding faculty, staff and students.
