Position: This is a full-time, annually renewable position with an anticipated salary range of $40,000-$45,000 per year with an excellent comprehensive benefit program.
The University of Minnesota Crookston, one of five campuses comprising the University of Minnesota system, invites applications for a full-time position as a Regional Admissions Counselor based in Southern Minnesota (loosely defined as counties south of Highway 212).
A key member of the admissions team, an Admissions Counselor must be enthusiastic, highly motivated, and have the ability to articulate the values and objectives of a hands-on-experiential learning atmosphere at a small institution to attract, recruit, and admit students to UMN Crookston. This person will assist in building a diverse, inclusive campus and living community for on campus, first year students.
The individual selected will represent the University to the public providing high quality service to prospective students and their families, and collaborating with members of the campus to support students and advance efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive environment. The duties of the position will require travel, including extended overnight stays, and flexible evening and weekend hours. It also requires interviewing, making presentations, promoting UMN Crookston, and screening applications.
This position is to recruit first-year, on campus students to UMN Crookston with a focused territory of Southern Minnesota. For purposes of this description, Southern Minnesota will be defined as Minnesota counties south of Highway 212. This recruiter will work with all students, but will have a special focus on promoting the Agriculture and Natural Resources fields.
Working with the Assistant Director of Recruitment, develop and implement a recruitment plan tailored for assigned territory to meet short-term and long-term goals.
Conduct student recruitment and outreach activities on and off campus, as well as virtually.
Plans and participates in recruitment and enrollment activities, including: open houses, regional presentations, orientation programs, career days, regional and national college fairs, virtual events, and build brand awareness and reputation.
Develops and presents public presentations designed to promote the University.
Meets with prospective students and parents to provide individual counseling on educational options and alternatives.
Monitors student behavior trends and adjusts recruiting plan accordingly.
Reviews applications and makes admissions decisions based on academic requirements and program choice compatibility.
Engages in extensive phone calls to applicants within assigned recruitment territory.
Meet individual recruitment goals and objectives.
Anticipates and responds to the needs of guests from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Participates in advancing UMN Crookston’s efforts to build an inclusive and respectful campus community.
Participate in training programs to develop professionally and become fully informed about the University and recruiting strategies.
Maintain a working knowledge of current UMN Crookston degree programs, policies, and major content.
Will work with technology, such as CRM’s (Slate), and student records databases
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree plus at least 2 years of relevant experience or Master's degree
Valid driver's license
Ability to travel a minimum of 12 weeks annually, including extended overnight stays, and flexible evening and weekend hours
