Description: Pratt Institute is seeking a creative individual interested in beginning a career in higher education admissions. The Undergraduate Admissions Counselor position is geared for a new professional who is interested in assisting aspiring artists and designers with their college search process and working to identify and enrolling those who would benefit from matriculation at one of the world's leaders in arts education. The position works closely with the Director of Admissions to design and deliver a wide range of recruitment and enrollment services. In addition to supporting the general recruitment work of the office, the Counselor will manage an assigned pool of prospects and applicants, counsel students, conduct portfolio reviews and represent Pratt at a wide range of events.

On a typical day you will be required to:
Interview students, conduct group information sessions, and travel throughout the United States as needed to represent Pratt at recruitment events, portfolio days, high schools, community colleges, college fairs, and arts organizations
Provide management of assigned undergraduate prospect and applicant pools, assisting high school and transfer students with completing the admissions process. Responsibilities include: evaluation of academic records and creative materials, updating records, and providing outreach and communication to prospects, parents and educators.
Assist in the development, maintenance and execution of the admission social media plan, designed to engage prospective students, their families, and educators.
Assist deposited applicants with the business of enrollment and the completion of required forms. Serve as a liaison for the student with offices across campus including: student financial services, residential life, academic advisement, health services, academic support services, and the registrar.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree required, BFA or significant coursework in art and design preferred.
Experience: One to two years of previous transferrable work experience desired. Previous work on a college campus, especially in Admissions, a plus.
Required Skills: Strong people skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, facility with Microsoft Office Suite, ability to work with databases, strong organizational skills and serious attention to detail, ability to build fruitful partnerships with colleagues and coworkers, a good sense of humor and a solutions-first focus, as well as an ability to mitigate stress and contribute to a positive work environment.
This position will require the ability to work on weekends and evenings, as needed.
