In-House Admissions Counselor and Content Specialist

This position is responsible for recruiting qualified applicants for admission to Illinois Wesleyan University, and serving as a content writer for admissions related social media/marketing content. Primary responsibilities include developing relationships with parents and prospective students via presentations and individual conversations during the campus visit, following up with families to help meet or exceed enrollment goals, and contributing as a content writer for admissions. The admissions counselor informs prospective high school students about Illinois Wesleyan programs, culture, mission, and life on campus; ensures that recruitment goals are met regarding applications, acceptances, and enrollments; plans, and executes special projects in conjunction with the goals and objectives of the Enrollment & Marketing department; reviews admissions applications, and evaluates credentials; encourages a healthy and productive working relationship between the Enrollment & Marketing department and other IWU offices. Execute campus visits via presentations and individual meetings in order to meet or exceed state application and enrollment goals; performs presentations, individual meetings and follow-up regarding the campus visit; develops and maintains relationships with prospective students and families; provides support and communication to colleagues
Work alongside the Admissions Marketing team as a content writer for digital, social and print media; serves as a primary content writer for admissions drip campaigns via Slate platform; work closely with Marketing Coordinator to evaluate success metrics of admissions marketing campaigns; serves as liaison between admissions counselor team and marketing team; regularly updates, edits, and proofreads admissions messaging
Understands the mission, vision, programs, majors and extracurricular offerings of IWU; interviews prospective students with recommendations for merit aid and acceptance; makes recommendations to AVP for Enrollment Management regarding admittance
Collaborate with key IWU faculty and staff to meet enrollment expectations; works with coaches to assist prospective athletes with the enrollment process; serves as liaison between faculty, academic programs and prospective students to facilitate conversations; represents IWU Enrollment Management at various campus activities; works as liaison between prospective students and financial aid
Bachelor’s degree required
Knowledge of college search process and financial aid best practices; Proficiency in writing, editing and public speaking
Some weekend and evening work required
Valid Driver’s License
Able to lift objects up to 25 lbs.
