The Admission Counselor is responsible for representing Bellarmine University to multiple constituencies, including prospective students, their families, high school guidance staff and community contacts. This role will help in the expansion and diversification of Bellarmine University's student population and geographical reach. The counselor will independently develop and implement recruiting initiatives to meet application and enrollment goals. The counselor will conduct a holistic review of first-year and transfer student applications for their assigned territory, and others as assigned. This position must be effective at independently planning recruitment strategies including high school visits, area receptions and individual meetings.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Admission Counselor will work with the Associate Dean and other senior leadership to determine territory and market areas of focus for the recruitment of qualified high school, transfer and minority students for admission and matriculation. The position will work to achieve targeted recruitment goals and build relationships with key stakeholders in the assigned territory.
In addition, this position will:
Travel extensively to maintain assigned territory (travel has been impacted due to the Covid-19 pandemic).
Establish relationships with key schools in select markets (through high school visits, counselor breakfast meetings, college fairs, receptions, alumni networking, and other events either in person or virtually).
Manage admission applications of students in assigned territory. This includes assisting students through admission process, reading, reviewing, interviewing, gaining reference from counselors and making admission recommendations.
Maintain contacts with prospective students and events in Slate CRM (customer relationship management) system, respond to inquiries for admission information by phone, email, text and in person.
Maintain accurate reports and records pertaining to high school visits, telephone contacts, admission files and year-end recruitment analysis.
Provide prospective students and their families with basic scholarship and financial aid information.
Be required to participate in weekly team meetings, frequent supervisor check-ins, participate in on-campus admission committee meetings as required; on-campus admission programs, admitted student events and other visit days as required by Associate Dean.
Track expenses and coordinate activities to stay within recruitment budget. Ability to evaluate ROI of strategies in assigned territory to determine effectiveness of initiatives.
Manage additional tasks as assigned by Associate Dean and other senior leadership.

Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to function independently and the ability to conduct responsibilities from residence
Ability to work and communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in student recruitment, education advocacy or college counseling
Bilingual communication skills, "Spanish/English"
Experience working in an institution of higher education
Knowledge and understanding of Slate (or a Customer Relationship Management system)
Demonstrated ability to present information to small and large groups
