Summary of Duties:
The Admissions Counselor for Central WA will reside in the Tri Cities area and focus directly on the recruitment and enrollment of both first year and transfer students to WSU with additional focus on increasing diversity and outreach to first generation students. Job duties include attending high school fairs, community college fairs, classroom visits, one to one appointments, participation in regional admission counselor programs and groups and other events and activities. The AC works with data systems to create a comprehensive recruitment plan and personalized follow up plan. This position will build relationships with high school and community college counselors, parents, alumni, on campus partners and others. Preparation and oversight of receptions and other programs, budget responsibility, and participating in on-campus events are key functions of this position. Close collaboration with WSU Tri Cities is required and a 'one WSU' approach to the recruitment of new students is a key function of this role.
This position may be 10-12 months and is negotiable.
Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of experience directly related to student services. A Master's degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Understanding of and a commitment to inclusion, access and diversity.
Excellent presentation abilities, oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have, or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid driver's license.
Willing and able to travel and work some weekends/evenings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Master's degree.
Experience working in education.
Knowledge of student recruitment, college admissions, and WSU.
Experience with Slate or other CRM technology.
