Job Description:
The Admission Counselor provides adult undergraduate and online prospective students applying to the Mount with information about the Weekend/Evening College and Fully Online programs, guides applicants through the admission process, and works with admission staff and others to plan/conduct recruitment activities for prospective adult students and evaluates applicants for admission to MSMU. As well, as builds relationships and assists all applicants throughout all phases of the enrollment cycle (inquiry through enrollment).
This position reports to the Director of Admissions, Transfer & Adult Programs and works closely with Weekend/Evening College staff and key support offices to attract, engage and enroll qualified adult students.
Position Hourly Range: $18.31 - $20.60
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contact and meet prospective MSMU WEOC/ TUG transfer students. Schedule event meetings to recruit at local community colleges and attend and recruit at approximately college fairs throughout California and out-of-state conferences, as needed.
Inform and update community colleges' transfer center representatives about MSMU's Weekend, Evening, and Online College so they can inform their students about the program and generate applications for admission.
Build relationships with guide adult/fully online applicants throughout all phases of the enrollment cycle (inquiry through enrollment).
Follow-up with applicants via phone and email about missing documents.
Recruit prospective WEOC/ TUG transfer students by promoting the program at corporate, educational, and transfer fairs. Compile written reports on the success of fairs attended.
Responsible for meeting enrollment goals/targets for assigned recruitment territory.
Engage prospective students via phone, email, and in person on a continual basis to build relationships between the student and the University. Maintain active correspondence with the prospective student until the student is enrolled or no longer interested in applying.
Interact in a professional manner with a variety of professional contacts and key influencers outside of the University who have an impact/influence on prospective students.
Organize and schedule evening visits at various local community colleges/corporate partnerships.
Analyze and evaluate documents submitted with applications for admission (i.e. high school transcripts, college transcripts, AP exam scores, CLEP test scores, references, essays) of all incoming students.
Participate in all Admission Office events throughout the year.
Knowledge of and familiarity with recruiting for adult and online programs; recruitment of international students.
Other duties and responsibilities:
Organize, plan and execute programs/events designed to support the WEOC/ TUG transfer recruitment efforts.
Participate in professional associations, conferences, and development.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Knowledge:
Working knowledge of the structure of adult undergraduate and online admissions and of higher education in general; analysis of unofficial transcripts; and the role of an Associate of Arts degree versus a Bachelor's degree.
Enrollment management and data systems knowledge/experience are a plus (Target X).
Understanding financial aid policies and procedures are helpful.

Minimum of a completed baccalaureate degree is required, ideally from a small private liberal arts institution.
Participation in national and/or regional adult higher education conferences/organizations is helpful.
