General information about the position:
Regionally located in NY/NJ (New York and New Jersey). The Admissions Counselor is a highly motivated, focused, and results-oriented regional Admissions Counsel. This position will represent the University of Minnesota to prospective students, prospective student families, and high school officials in New Jersey, New York, and targeted eastern states of the U.S., while providing customer service to prospective students from a variety of geographical locations and identities, including racial and ethnic backgrounds.This position will recruit from and be based in New York City Metro area or Northern New Jersey.

This is a P&A posiiton and the salary range is $65,000 - $75,000.

Duties and Responsibilities:
â–ª Ability to develop close relationships with, and provide top-notch customer service to, a variety of high profile stakeholders.
â–ª Serve as one-stop contact for freshman admissions; provide advising and assistance throughout the admission process to students, family members, and high school     counselors
â–ª Build relationships with school counselors and alumni volunteers. Recruit and facilitate enrollment of prospective national undergraduate students.
â–ª Plan, participate, and work with national student recruitment outreach efforts primarily in New Jersey, New York, and targeted eastern states of the U.S.
â–ª Serve as presenter at high school programs, recruitment events, and counselor meetings.
â–ª Provide admissions counseling to prospective students, parents, and school counselors.
â–ª Perform application review and evaluate academic and other credentials for admission decision and counseling purposes.
â–ª Successfully implement various national admissions and recruitment projects.
â–ª Travel to Minnesota as needed for recruitment and enrollment trainings, meetings, and events.
â–ª Implement extensive recruitment and relationship building efforts utilizing written, telephone, and in-person communication to prospective students, applicants, admitted students, school counselors, and alumni volunteers.
â–ª Execute and meet expected goals for assigned outreach campaigns consistently throughout the recruitment process.
â–ª Train local alumni volunteers to participate in ongoing recruitment efforts in NY/NJ, and targeted states of the U.S.
â–ª Collect data, assess progress/results and prepare reports related to recruitment initiatives to determine effectiveness.
â–ª Participate in weekly phone and email conversations with supervisor and participate in office staff meetings.
â–ª Meet all office-wide requirements for diversity, equity and inclusion work and professional development as identified by supervisor and the office’s DEI Committee.
â–ª Travel outside of NY/NJ area as needed for national student recruitment outreach efforts as requested.

Required:
â–ª Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant work experience, regional territory management experience preferred.
â–ª Must have a valid driver's license or consistent and reliable transportation to travel regionally in the NY/NJ area, some other travel may be required
â–ª Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice in practice as part of personal growth and development.
â–ª Must be able to travel regionally and nationally, sometimes overnight, for extended periods of time.
â–ª Must be able to work evenings/weekends and some holidays as needed.
â–ª Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
â–ª Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking experience.
â–ª Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
â–ª Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate recruiting plans.
â–ª Demonstrated ability to analyze and use data to guide work.

Preferred:
â–ª Preference given to University of Minnesota graduates.
â–ª Regional admissions and/or NY/NJ territory management experience is ideal, but not required.
