The University of Alabama in Huntsville is seeking a highly professional and experienced candidate for the position of Associate Director, Admissions. The Associate Director of Admissions has the primary responsibility of leading the planning and execution of numerous campus recruitment-related events including New Student Orientation. This position will be responsible for the mandatory first-year and transfer orientation programming. A member of the professional recruiting team, this position strategically pursues and implements the recruiting and enrollment goals of the university. This position also works closely with the interviewing, selection process, and management of the student Orientation Leaders.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Execute the Orientation Leader hiring and selection process. Providing weekly (or more) training sessions in preparation for the Summer Orientation sessions. • Provide complete training (10 months) for Orientation Leaders. • Select, hire, and supervise at least two OL Coordinator positions. • Plan, organize, implement and execute all on and off campus recruitment events including fall and spring events. Plan at least three full scale open-house type events in the fall, two prospective student events in the spring and summer and an admitted student even in the spring. And other events as needed. • Evaluate the effectiveness of all on and off-campus programs. • Provide reports and recaps for all event programs including orientation to the Director of Admissions. • Be an active participant in the senior leadership of the Office of Admissions. • Assist with other recruitment initiatives in the form of attending high school visits, college fairs, receptions and other events that support the recruitment of the incoming class. • Work collaboratively with all aspects of the campus community. Enhance the orientation program by utilizing and providing quality training to the admissions team in association with the Orientation Leaders. • Manage, train, and supervise two Orientation Leader coordinators to assist with orientation programming and training for the Orientation Team. • Manage and supervise the coordinators' weekly in-office schedule. • Provide assessments for each Orientation Leader. Create, implement and adhere to learning outcomes for the Orientation Leader program as well as the Orientation program in general. • Manage the working Budget of the Orientation program.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience. 5 years of full-time verifiable work experience at an institution of higher education, preferably in Admissions, Recruitment, Orientation, or Events. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to work flexible hours and travel. A Master's degree and experience with Ellucian Recruit are preferred. The approximate starting salary for this position is $48,000 - $50,000 with an excellent benefits package.
