Detailed Job Description This position reports to the Director of RIT/NTID Admissions and serves on the management team. Provides leadership and management of enrollment processes to achieve recruitment, application and new student enrollment goals among primarily deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) and sign language interpreter students to RIT/NTID.
Serve as liaison supporting recruitment activities pertaining to undergraduate, graduate, international and online/certificate enrollment. Supervise a team of five to six Admissions Counselors/Assistant Directors and the Travel Coordinator in their daily work responsibilities. The Associate Director oversees the application review process (from prospects to enrolled students), including responsibility for approving admissions and merit scholarship decisions recommended by admissions staff.
This position requires intimate knowledge of policy and procedures, including formulating new policies, for the consistent and equitable review of applications and scholarship awards. This position also requires strong relationship building with DHH communities and vested stakeholders on a national scale in various capacities - i.e., conferences, parent interactions and recruitment travel. The Associate Director will, in the admissions counselor role, be responsible for international students and a specific geographic region and criteria schools.
Responsibilities:
Supervise the daily work of Admissions Counselors/Assistant Directors and the Travel Coordinator including 1:1 and weekly meetings. There will also be supervision of limited-term recruiters as needed to cover recruitment travel gaps. Complete annual performance appraisals and conduct new counselor observation trips.
Oversee the application review process from identifying prospects to confirming enrollment, utilizing Slate/PeopleSoft. Approve admissions and merit scholarship decisions. Serve as liaison with RIT's Undergraduate Admissions Office to coordinate the admission efforts of NTID's bachelor degree students into the other colleges of RIT. Identify areas of need and act accordingly to satisfy enrollment targets.
Initiate, develop, and execute recruitment initiatives pertaining to NTID's DHH, graduate and sign language interpreting programs. Partake in receptions, home visits, conferences/college fairs, summer camps, and individual meetings with prospective students. Work closely with NTID marketing liaisons to maximize appeal of recruitment materials.
Carry out recruitment and application review work and assist students with admissions processes including travel to high schools, summer camps, and conferences. There will be an annual average of 40-45 days of recruitment travel.
Develop queries and reports as needed. Monitor and act upon recruitment and enrollment data to ensure strategical and timely outcomes and fulfillment of enrollment targets.
Serve as a member of the office's leadership team.
Manage recruitment budgets and ensure responsible expenditure of finite resources.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in business or human services
3-5 years experience in higher education, business sales and/or educational outreach
3-5 years supervision experience
Fluency in American Sign Language and written English
Strong presentation and relational skills to appeal to various constituencies
Eye for detail to support consistency in application and scholarship decisions/outcomes and job-related details such as policy, travel planning and budget management
The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy. (see Page 4)
