The Senior Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions will oversee and conduct the Transfer undergraduate student recruitment operation, as well as the application evaluation process for transfer students. This role supervises multiple Admissions Counselors who focus on this student population, and will provide continuous training, holistic development, and professional growth for these employees while ensuring the Transfer recruitment and evaluation process run efficiently. In conjunction with the Associate Director, the Sr. AD will serve on the Admissions Recruitment Leadership team, assisting with strategic development within undergraduate admissions, recruitment, and operations strategy and project allocation. This position will also maintain a recruitment territory, serve as admissions counselor to students & families, and evaluate student applications.
Responsibilities and Duties
Supervise multiple Admission Counselors, with an emphasis on either Transfer undergraduate recruitment and application evaluation. The Senior Assistant Director will create and implement on-boarding and training programs for these employees, as well as complete annual performance reviews. This position will also provide frequent feedback to assist with performance improvement and professional development, and help these employees gain skills and competencies as they engage with their responsibilities, both individual and team-wide. Counsel prospective, admitted, and enrolled undergraduate students on admission to TU. Represent TU by providing excellent customer service to all students and families via phone, chat, and email, as well as via in-person and virtual meetings. Understand admissions policies and requirements and serve as a resource to ensure success within the Admissions Recruitment Team. Conduct information presentations both on- and off-campus throughout the year. Evaluate undergraduate student applications for admission and scholarship awards to Towson University through a holistic review process. Assist with ensuring evaluation timelines are kept and staff are continuously trained on evaluation policies and procedures.
Under the direction of the Associate Director, assist with the development of strategic plans for Transfer admission recruitment, operations, and marketing. Develop partnerships both within TU and with external constituents to assist with recruitment, yield, and assist with staff trainings, and policy development/execution ensure success within freshman admissions. This position serves as a senior leader of the Recruitment Team.
Manage a recruitment territory; visiting high schools and/or community colleges, attending college fairs, and participating in workshops/panels both in-person and virtually throughout the year. Serve as liaison to develop relationships with high school counselors, alumni, and community-based organizations to enhance the network and brand of TU. Provide recruitment support as needed for office-wide recruitment events & outreach efforts. Utilize data and enrollment trends to develop a recruitment and outreach strategy for their territory, and complete a territory report and analysis to assist with recruitment & outreach efforts. Complete general admissions duties including, but not limited to, customer service, applicant processing, holistic review, on-campus events, special projects, campus committees, and any other duties as assigned to meet the needs of enrollment and the goals of the university.
Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree
Four years of higher education experience or customer service experience
The position requires supervisory experience and a demonstrated record of strong training and mentorship abilities.
Excellent communication skills
The ability to present to small and large groups of people in various types of venues.
They must also pay attention to detail and possess strong organizational and leadership skills.
The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, interested in and attentive to cross-cultural communication and someone who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
The familiarity and use of technology is critical to the success of this position and the overall operation of the Office of University Admissions.
