The Senior Associate Dean of Admission is a seasoned, strategic thinking professional reporting to the Vice President for Admissions and Financial Aid. The Senior Associate Dean serves as a key officer on the Admission, Financial Aid and Johnson Program leadership team. Specifically, this Senior Associate Dean is charged with managing the assessment, reporting and operations functions integral to meeting the university’s strategic enrollment goals, notably increasing the racial, socioeconomic and international diversity of the student body, and championing the admissions and aid marketing objectives.
Essential Functions:
Serves as senior leader of the admission and financial aid team, particularly focused on assessment, operations, marketing and communications.
Has particular responsibility for application evaluation methodology, structure, planning and assessment.
Serves as liaison for reporting functions internally, notably to the Senior Advisor to the President for Strategic Analysis and Office of Institutional Effectiveness, and with member organizations, including Common Application, College Board and Small College Consortium.
Via supervision, manage operational elements of admissions enterprise, including but not limited to, data systems team, CRM and electronic and print communication efficacy.
In close consultation with Director of Admissions Communications, leads planning and execution of admission and financial aid messaging, particularly in digital and print form.
Oversees and supervises international recruitment strategy, assessment and outreach.
Supervises select members of the admission staff. Responsible for hiring, training and providing employees with ongoing coaching and thoughtful performance feedback.
Serves as a liaison to financial aid during prospective and current student appeals process.
Seeks and nurtures collaborative partnerships with internal and external audiences.
Participates in modest recruitment related travel, represents the University at admission-sponsored events, interviews prospective students and evaluates applications.
Other related duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in highly selective college admission or a combination of education and experience from which a similar skillset is obtained.
Proven supervisory effectiveness.
