The University of Southern Indiana seeks applications for an Assistant Director of Admissions.
The Assistant Director will assist in mentoring and developing the Admissions staff and monitor the day-to-day functions of the Fuquay Welcome Center, working under the direction of the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions in evaluating business practices and adjusting as needed to enhance efficiency and productivity. The Assistant Director of Admissions will assist in the development and implementation of all aspects of undergraduate recruitment and the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and recruitment program designed to meet enrollment objectives and budgetary goals. Assume additional responsibilities in the absence of the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Fuquay Welcome Center and supervise student worker staff and graduate assistants housed in the Welcome Center.
Assist with the implementation and execution of strategic marketing and communication efforts for admissions.
Assist in the planning, promotion, and execution of university events intended for the recruitment of undergraduate students.
Develop and propose to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Executive Director for Enrollment strategic, innovative, and cost-efficient programs in response to anticipated and emerging needs.
Collaborate with the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions to develop and implement communication flows to prospective students, guidance counselors, parents and prospective student designed to increase and enhance the campus visit experience.
Assume general admissions responsibilities such as travel for recruitment purposes, reviewing admissions files, and give admissions presentations on and off campus.
Assist with application review and analysis.
Assist with updating printed materials of the Office of Admission including revising and updating the content of publications annually or as needed. Interface with the campus printing department and private printing firms.
Assist with the development of the University’s marketing and recruitment plan.
Coordinate with Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions on a comprehensive recruitment and travel program in assigned territory.
Provide leadership for all admissions counselors in developing territory specific recruitment strategies.
Mediate relations between the University and incoming students, counseling staff members (e.g., at high schools, community colleges), and other relevant parties.
Establish and regularly monitor measurable goals and objectives to ensure that prospective students and applicants receive timely and exemplary service during the admissions process.
Serve as liaison between faculty, administrators, and prospective students. Assist with the management of application review process.
Collaborate with appropriate personnel to streamline the undergraduate online programs admissions process.
Assist with other Admission Office responsibilities as directed by Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of two years of experience in college admission process, student affairs, academic advising, student financial aid or event planning and management.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in both a public relations capacity with a diverse group of individuals, including prospective students and their families, required.
Ability to mentor new admission counselors. Strong values for teamwork and possess skills to motivate others to accomplish enrollment objectives.
Strong customer service orientation and awareness of the offerings of the University and its mission.
Strong oral and written communication skills required, along with effective presentation and public speaking skills.
Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and work independently while exercising initiative and strong problem resolution skills. Demonstrated ability to remain well organized while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Creativity and resourcefulness in developing new ideas for outreach to prospective students.
