SUMMARY The Webb Schools, a boarding/day high school of 400 students located in Claremont CA, seeks a dynamic individual to serve as an Assistant or Associate Dean of College Guidance. This position will work closely with our Dean of College Guidance to ensure students and families are fully supported in the application process. The Assistant or Associate Dean reports to the Dean of College Guidance and is supported by the Executive Assistant to College Guidance. The Assistant or Associate Dean works in collaboration with other residential and academic leaders to support Webb’s educational program and communicates regularly with students and families.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES This position will focus on delivering a top-notch college counseling program. Specific responsibilities include: • Work as part of the college counseling team to plan and execute a college counseling curriculum that promotes best practices and meets the needs of Webb students in grades 9-12 and parents. • Work with the Dean of College Guidance to counsel approximately 100 seniors, including meeting with students and families and writing counselor letters. • Take the lead in developing a program for and meeting with students and parents of underclass students (grades 9-11) to answer general questions about college admissions, academic preparation, and other issues as they anticipate the college process. • Help host college representatives when they are visiting campus. • Take the lead in administering the PSAT, SAT, and/or ACT testing and in staying current with NCAA academic eligibility requirements. • Assist in overall academic planning and advising for all grade levels. • Take the lead with college tour trips for students. • Stay up to date on current trends in college admissions and participate in professional development opportunities including visits to colleges. • Promote the development of honor, character, and leadership in all dealings with students, including enforcing school rules. • Serve as a classroom teacher, serve as an advisor, and support the evening & weekend residential program, and/or participate in other school programs as discussed and negotiated with the Head of Schools. • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE The candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) from an accredited college or university, knowledge of independent schools, and experience in selective college admissions or college counseling, or a combination of both. Excellent organizational skills are required, as are a sense of humor and the ability to work as part of a collaborative administrative team that values each member's voice. The ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility and take independent initiative in an energetic office environment with efficiency and effectiveness are essential to success in this position. In addition, exceptional writing and interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS A valid California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record is required. A criminal background check must be successfully completed before employment can begin. OTHER SKILLS College Guidance members must be: • Able to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators. • Knowledgeable practitioners of college guidance. • Technologically literate (familiarity with Cialfo and College Kickstart is preferred) and able to guide and direct students’ use of technology.
