Job Description:
This Admission Counselor/Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is responsible for assisting in the dissemination of information, recruitment, evaluation, selection and enrollment of first-year students with a focus on increasing the diversity of the applicant pool which includes but not limited to, students of color, low-income students, and first-generation students. The counselor will interview students and speak with parents, travel to high schools and college fairs in their assigned territories, work with secondary school counselors, and read and select applicants as a member of the Admission Committee.
The Admission Counselor/Assistant Director will be part of a diversity and inclusion team comprising an Associate Director, two DEI student interns, and two Community Relations student interns. The Admission Counselor/Assistant Director will report to the Associate Director of Admission and DEI Coordinator.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Plan and execute six weeks of recruitment travel in designated areas to increase the College's visibility in local and distant markets. Schedule evening events in assigned territories, including interview nights, receptions, and information sessions.
Make presentations to schools and community-based organizations, and establish lasting relationships with school counselors and community-based counselors.
Manage relationships with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), including site visits, group tour visits, and personal outreach (emails, postcards, one-on-one meetings)
Collaborate with the Admission team to coordinate all on-campus programming targeting underrepresented populations, including the Perspectives Day program and Visions.
Collaborate with the Admission team to coordinate all virtual programming targeting underrepresented populations (i.e. webinars, alumni interviews, etc.)
Manage the DEI Student Advisory board with the DEI student interns
Liaise to the Bishop Healy Alumni of Color committee
Evaluate candidates for admission. Interview candidates, read applications and assign evaluations to applicants, provide direction for evaluation of schools in assigned territories, participate in the committee review and selection process
Other duties as assigned (may include work with student volunteers, alumni, event planning, website maintenance, or other systems)

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts degree
Energy and enthusiasm for the value of a Jesuit, liberal arts education
Valid driver's license
0-1 years of experience for Admission Counselor (2022 or 2023 college graduate)
1-2 years of experience for Assistant Director
