The WMU Office of Admissions seeks a data-driven and results-oriented communicator to join our marketing and communication team as an Assistant Director of Admissions-Communications. Working alongside and in partnership with the Associate Director of Admissions-Marketing & Communications and others inside and outside of the office, this role assists with managing our communication efforts to attract and enroll domestic, undergraduate students by partnering in the development and implementation of recruitment and yield communication plans for students and their families/influencers. One key element of the role includes the coordination and procurement of student names as well as the management of CRM data within the admissions office. The Assistant Director also manages a small recruitment territory, which may include travel, conducts outreach to students and assists at admissions events. To be successful, the Assistant Director must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong attention to detail and experience with email marketing campaigns, multiple marketing channels, recruitment tactics and data analysis.
Major Duties:
Partners with department’s leadership, develop and propose robust recruitment and yield communication plans and initiatives to attract and enroll students from high schools and community colleges.
Uses the admissions customer relationship management and other software. Manages, examines, and maintains data that will provide insight, opportunities, and direction to initiatives designed to attract students.
Develops messaging and collaborates with campus partners to ensure the admissions team members effectively engage and serve prospective students, their families, school counselors, and other college counseling colleagues.
Manages a recruitment territory. Serves as the primary University liaison for students, families, and high school counselors. Makes admission decisions and advocates for students while building and maintaining relationships with college counseling colleagues within that territory.
Works with admissions leadership and team members to promote campus, with particular emphasis on creating segmented, multifaceted, multi-platform plans allowing students and families to receive the information that is most pertinent to them.
Participates in unit and campus committees and work groups and serves as an admissions liaison to other campus departments and units.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Two years’ relevant experience.
Understanding of college admissions.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, and the general public.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents and community members. Proven attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state.
Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends
Knowledge and experience working with a CRM system or other student database.
Experience with creating and launching email campaigns.
