Reports to:Principal
The High School College Counselor is responsible for guiding students and families through the college application process, facilitating workshops, and maintaining systems that support post-secondary planning. This role emphasizes personalized support and proactive communication and guidance. The counselor will foster strong relationships with students, parents, and college representatives while ensuring that the process reflects the school’s Catholic mission and commitment to holistic education.

Individualized College Counseling
Supporting students and families through personalized college counseling sessions, helping them navigate the application process, explore post-secondary options, and set realistic goals.
Providing tailored resources and guidance to address the diverse needs of students, including first-generation college applicants.
Comprehensive Programming
Developing and delivering workshops, events, and presentations that educate students and families about college readiness, application strategies, financial aid, and career exploration.
Facilitating student learning experiences related to standardized testing preparation, essay writing, and scholarship applications.
Collaboration and Communication
Building strong relationships with students, families, teachers, and college admissions representatives to create a network of support.
Maintaining clear, proactive communication with stakeholders through newsletters, webinars, and other tools.
Resource and Program Management
Overseeing college counseling tools, platforms, and resources to streamline processes and ensure students have access to high-quality information.
Managing events such as college fairs, counselor connections, and visits from college admission representatives.
Data Management and Reporting
Tracking and analyzing college admissions data and statistics to inform practices and celebrate student outcomes.
Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
Minimum of three years successful experience in either college admissions or high school college counseling.
Washington State Counseling credential (or ability to obtain one) preferred
Strong understanding of the college admissions and financial aid process.
Knowledge of colleges and universities: their academic programs, admission policies, and financial aid policies and procedures.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
Experience with college counseling platforms (e.g., Maia Learning, College Kickstart) is a plus
