Leads the recruiting and yield of incoming first-year students from the Detroit area with an emphasis on creating relationships with high schools, college counseling organizations, other educational partners, prospective students and their families. This is a regional position located in the Detroit area.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manages recruitment and yield efforts to maximize market share and ensure effective enrollment of new students.
Builds recruiting and enrollment pipelines in the region. Identifies and develops new recruitment opportunities and timely strategies to increase enrollment.
Measures and analyzes the effectiveness of recruitment and yield strategies. Uses data to identify trends and patterns that impact recruitment and yield.
Promotes and represents the University at on- and off-campus events, including high school visits, college fairs, and community events. Builds and maintains relationships with external stakeholders.
Represents the University on advisory boards, planning committees, and other community organizations.
Partners with team members and campus colleagues focused on diverse recruitment. Assists with the planning and execution of initiatives that will serve and attract students from underserved backgrounds.
Supports prospective students through the application process, providing guidance as necessary. Reads and evaluates applications and makes admission decisions.
Remains current with contemporary admissions and enrollment management approaches and best practices, including best practices in recruitment communication technologies.
May also serve transfer student populations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Two years’ relevant experience.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
Designated home office or similar workspace.
Ability to travel frequently within the Detroit area.
Ability to travel elsewhere in Michigan and out-of-state, on a limited basis.
Ability to travel to WMU’s main campus upon request.
Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years’ relevant experience.
Experience within an admissions environment.
Experience recruiting diverse students.
