Our Team:
The College's Office of Undergraduate and Specialized Master's Programs Admissions team plays a critical role in the success of the college through recruiting and engaging with high quality candidates for our undergraduate and specialized professional master's programs. The specialized master's programs (currently 8) are largely pre-professional, catering primarily to students just graduating from their undergraduate studies. This past year the master's programs attracted approximately 4200 applications, yielding approximately 420 students to Cornell. This team is composed of energetic, collaborative, and knowledgeable individuals who are passionate about finding top tier applicants, are united through a shared vision to elevate the status of our programs and are committed to Cornell's core values to diversity and inclusion essential for individual and organizational success.
Enrollment representatives within Cornell's colleges, schools, and units regularly collaborate and partner with the Enrollment Division to accomplish the University's enrollment goals.
The Admissions Counselor Opportunity
The Admissions Counselor executes our College's recruitment and yield strategies to build its pool of diverse, qualified applicants, and to ultimately select and enroll excellent students for its undergraduate (Dyson School and Nolan School) programs.
Core responsibilities of the Admissions Counselor include:
- Coordinating and managing all recruitment and yield events, consisting of both on-campus (information sessions, Cornell Days, and other hosting events) and online events (virtual information sessions, webinars and chats).
- Conduct presentations for on-campus and virtual information sessions.
- Editing and updating of scripts and handouts used at all information sessions.
- Supporting Associate Director of Admissions with training and events for student admission ambassadors.
- Scheduling admissions ambassadors for support at information sessions and yield events.
- Assistance with managing one of the mailboxes maintained by the admissions office.
- Developing outreach and relationship-building initiatives with key 'influencers' in the college selection process, such as guidance counselors and others.
- Reviewing completed applications for admission from an assigned regional territory.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with up to 2 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a service orientated, collaborative mindset.
- Social media experience, ideally in professional context.
- Analytical thinker and problem solver who possesses sound judgement and maintains confidentiality and discretion.
- Strong technical aptitude - Microsoft Office, Excel, Zoom, Slate, social media in professional contexts.
- Energetic, seeks to take initiative and work with enthusiasm.
- Organized, has the ability to plan and work per a schedule/calendar, handle multiple tasks, and complete tasks within time constraints.
- Ability to travel occasionally, and to organize travel.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior admissions experience.
- Second language fluency (including writing and speaking), especially Spanish or Mandarin.
- Experience in: Customer service; Higher Education; Professional sales, marketing, communications; Event planning; Hospitality or related field; University admissions or communications.
- Experience with Slate or other admissions software, CRM systems.
- Special consideration given to students who completed undergraduate or graduate studies at Cornell University.
This is a full-time position based in Ithaca, NY and will provide hybrid work flexibility.
