Job Description:

Western Illinois University seeks dynamic and motivated individuals for Admissions Counselor positions. These positions professionally represent the university and will recruit students to Western Illinois University. Recruitment efforts are ongoing and vary throughout the year as focus shifts among the following activities: on and off campus school visits, college fairs and recruitment events (in-person and virtual); communication with prospective students through the admissions funnel (from initial contact to enrollment); student engagement activities and relationship development with influencer organizations.

The positions will be based on the main campus in Macomb, IL with significant overnight travel to a recruitment territory. The ideal candidates are enthusiastic, self-motivated, and results-oriented with the ability to think creatively to implement new initiatives, foster relationships with students, parents, mentors, and other influencers in schools, communities, and organizations and increase enrollment at the University.

Both will manage an assigned territory, developing and creating ideas to increase enrollment among all students within their assigned territory. Anticipated territory for the positions are:

• One position is focused on freshman students and the anticipated territory is East Central Illinois and working counterclockwise around to southwestern Illinois.
• One position is focused on transfer students and the anticipated territory is the immediate area around Macomb, IL and then to the north and northeast parts of the state of Illinois.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

• Earned bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Ability and desire to work evenings, weekends & overnight stays of multiple day length
• Ability and desire to work with diverse populations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift (or have an adaptation to lift) up to 50-pound boxes of recruitment materials on a daily basis.
• Ability and desire to work with a variety of technology applications, including enterprise systems, imaging and reporting systems, as well as working with a variety of other platforms, including Microsoft Suite and Google Suite
• Excellent analytical, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, as well as organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and balance a variety of tasks.
• Proof of current eligibility to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual or conversant in Spanish.
• Recent undergraduate admissions experience (within the past three years) in recruitment, communications, marketing or closely related area.
• Recent experience working in higher education

Student Resources

WIU Intercollegiate Athletics

The University's athletics program, based on the Macomb campus, sponsors 17 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's and women's varsity sports. Football competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision through the Missouri Valley Football Conference; all other varsity sports compete at the Division I level through The Summit League
