Summary: 

KD College Prep is seeking an experienced and qualified College Counselor/College Consultant to join our team based in Coppell, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the college admissions process at highly selective colleges and universities and be able to provide appropriate personalized guidance and support to our students and families. The College Counselor will work closely with the College Counseling Team to develop and implement its comprehensive college counseling program and will deliver counseling services that adhere to the program. 

Responsibilities: 

• Provide one-on-one counseling to students and families on the college admissions process 
• Host group sessions on aspects of the admissions process, including application boot camps 
• Help students identify and research colleges that are a good fit for their academic, social, and financial needs 
• Guide students through the preparation of college applications, essays, supplemental materials, and interviews 
• Present on college admissions topics at KD College Prep, local high schools, and in the community
• Maintain awareness of college admissions trends
• Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and maintain confidentiality 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree 
• 3+ years of experience in college counseling or admissions; experience reviewing applications in a college admissions office preferred
• Experience with the admissions processes at selective colleges or universities is a MUST
• Experience with the Common Application and other college application materials
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Experience with or willingness to use software such as CollegePlannerPro and Prompt, among others
• Ability to meet deadlines; flexibility to accommodate a seasonally heavy schedule
• Impeccable level of integrity and confidentiality
• Membership in a recognized professional association (NACAC, IECA, or HECA) is preferred
