Detailed Job Description PLEASE NOTE: The position requires managing a geographic territory and requires travel. This includes planning and executing recruiting travel activities in the fall and the spring each year. Fall recruitment travel is typically 6-8 consecutive weeks in length, including some weekends between September and November. Spring recruitment travel is typically 4-6 weeks, also including some weekends between March and May.
Position conducts significant amounts of student recruitment travel, informative interviews, engaging presentations and other counseling, advising and information services for prospective students, parents, education professionals, and related organizations. Selected candidate is assigned a geographic region of responsibility and maintains a liaison relationship with education professionals in that region.
Position collaborates and maintains productive working relationships with RIT faculty and staff as they engage in student recruitment initiatives. The selected candidate analyzes and considers a multitude of factors in determining an applicant's eligibility for admission and is responsible for assisting in the management of the communication process.
Position supports student recruitment and selection efforts designed to satisfy Institute-established freshman and transfer enrollment goals in the Undergraduate Office of Admissions. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of or ability to learn state and federal laws and ethical principles of practice as outlined by the National Association of College Admissions Counselors. Must demonstrate strong counseling, presentation, written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work with diverse populations. Candidate must also be computer literate and possess analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be highly flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment that emphasizes measurable work outcomes. Related experience in a postsecondary institution position with areas of significant responsibility is preferred.
Department/College Description Undergraduate Admissions/Enrollment Management. The Division of Enrollment Management is a dynamic organization striving to provide superior service to internal and external publics in order to maximize RITs potential for attracting new and serving existing student populations. The Division of Enrollment Management implements its goals and objectives in direct support of RITs mission, goals, and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree with at least three years of related experience, or equivalent experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills including oral presentation, written and interpersonal
Individual must also demonstrate excellent project management skills, initiative, capability in transforming ideas into practical solutions, ability to work over sustained periods of time and the exercise of good judgment and discretion in decision making
As a department driven by data and technology, the individual is expected to possess an array of computing skills, including analytical and problem solving abilities
The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy (please refer to page 4).
