Job Duties:
The Communications Admissions Counselor is responsible for creating a targeted outreach and engagement plan for admitted students focusing specifically on yield and melt in addition to sharing an out-of-state travel territory during peak outreach times. The Communications Admissions Counselor reports directly to the Senior Associate Director of Admission. This position will direct and execute a strategy for mass communications and marketing outreach from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to admitted students and parents through the application cycle. The position will also coordinate individualized communication plans for prospective students in efforts to drive enrollment deposits and attendance at summer orientation(s). This role will align communications to brand strategy and work closely with the marketing team in support of increasing enrollment in targeted strategic enrollment spaces.
The Communications Admission Counselor presents information sessions on behalf of East Carolina University to high schools, community colleges, college fairs, and other special events. In addition, this position counsels prospective students and their families on the educational opportunities at ECU, admission criteria, scholarship programs, and student services within the university. Creating and executing strategies to increase yield and decrease melt will be the top priority for this position. Strategies will include both communication initiatives and campus collaboration opportunities. All Admission Counselors participate in regular professional development and training initiatives related to TargetX and Banner. Last, the Communications Admission Counselor represents the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at University meetings and committees where appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
50% Communication to Enhance Yield and Melt Strategy
· Develop and execute digital communication plans, including emails, text messages, and social media during yield and melt season
· Manage all Mainstay and Mongoose yield communications
· Foster partnerships and act as a lead point of contact with/for other key campus partners to assist admitted students as they onboard to the institution
· Frequently assess yield and melt metrics and develop and deploy plans to increase yield and reduce melt
· Develop video content to assist admitted students with registering for classes, picking an orientation date, etc.
30% Out-of-State Recruitment Travel
· Represent the University at events or presentations
· Travel to high school visits, college fairs, and community college events
· Collaborate with school counselors/advisors for student events
10% Recruitment Team Support
· Serve on-call/email to support prospective students
· Complete other duties as assigned (e.g. assisting with local travel, participating in annual recruitment events like Open House and Pirates Aboard, etc.)
10% Continuous Training and Learning
· Attend office training for CRM, Banner, etc.
· Support new staff training
· Professional development opportunities

The Undergraduate Admissions Office is to identify, attract, and enroll first-year and transfer students to enhance East Carolina University as a national model for student success, public service, and regional transformation. The office annually processes approximately 36,000 applications for admission. These include freshmen, transfer, readmit, visitor, non-degree, pre-college, and auditor students.
