Position Summary:
Fort Lewis College seeks a strategic and systems-savvy leader to serve as the Director of Admission Systems and Communications. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, this newly created position will lead the operational, technological, and marketing functions within the Office of Admission to ensure seamless, data-informed, and student-centered experiences throughout the enrollment process.
The Director provides vision and leadership for the administration and optimization of Technolutions Slate CRM, oversees the processing and evaluation of undergraduate applications, and leads a comprehensive communications strategy targeting prospective students and their supporters. This position supervises both the Communications and Processing teams within Admission and plays a central role in cross-campus collaboration related to student data, reporting, and the recruitment lifecycle.

Major Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management
Provide leadership, management, and support for the Communications and Processing teams within the Office of Admission.
Supervise and support approximately 8 professional staff (classified and exempt), fostering a collaborative, innovative, service-oriented culture.
Hire, train, coach, and evaluate team members to ensure alignment with institutional goals.
Foster an office environment that values continuous improvement, cultural humility, and student-centered practices.
Communications and Marketing Strategy
Lead the planning, execution, and continual improvement of communication flows across the enrollment funnel in collaboration with the Director of Admission Recruitment and Director of Marketing & Communications.
Oversee the development and deployment of multichannel outreach campaigns (email, SMS, print, digital) to prospective students and influencers.
Manage relationships with third-party vendors providing marketing services and digital advertising, including agencies supporting creative content, digital campaign execution, and market research.
Oversee the College's presence and performance across multiple digital recruitment platforms (e.g., Niche, Appily, CollegeXpress, etc.) to ensure data accuracy, brand consistency, and ROI.
Monitor campaign effectiveness through analytics, A/B testing, and market feedback; adapt strategies to improve engagement and conversion.
Application Processing Operations
Oversee the development, implementation, and continual improvement of application workflows and systems for the timely and accurate processing of over 7,000 applications annually through internal applications as well as the Common Application.
Oversee the processes for decision routing, workload distribution, and application review to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely processing across all student types and terms.
Monitor application workflows and staffing to maintain responsiveness and service quality.
Coordinate application cycle setup and process updates across IT, campus stakeholders and external vendors.
Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures related to application processing and admissions standards.
Manage and optimize application processing operations, ensuring accurate and timely review, tuition classification, Native American Tuition Waiver approvals and data integrity.
Assist the VP of Enrollment Management in developing, evaluating, interpreting, and enforcing admissions policies, tuition classification, and Native American Tuition Waiver procedures and strategies; serve as an authoritative source of such information.? Make and approve decisions which may establish or alter policies, procedures or operations.??
Enrollment Systems Strategy and Collaboration
Provide strategic leadership for the use of Slate CRM in support of recruitment, communication, and application operations; collaborate with the Slate Systems Manager and VP of Enrollment Management to align system capabilities with enrollment goals.
Partner with IT, the Registrar, Institutional Research, and other campus departments to ensure effective integration and optimization of systems across the recruitment lifecycle.
Ensure that comprehensive user testing is planned and executed for all system updates and enhancements.
Maintain internal documentation and staff training related to Slate and associated technologies.
Represent the Office of Admission on campus-wide operational or technical committees; contribute to institution-wide planning and innovation in support of enrollment goals.
Data Management and Reporting
Provide strategic oversight for the development and use of queries, reports, and dashboards in Slate and other platforms to support daily operations, enrollment strategy, and institutional decision-making.
Oversee the timely and accurate submission of external reporting requirements, including the Undergraduate Applicant File (UAF) to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE).
Provide strategic enrollment insights through data analysis and trend evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
At least five years of progressively responsible experience in undergraduate admission, recruitment marketing, enrollment operations, or a closely related field
Supervisory experience with demonstrated commitment to staff development and team success.
Experience developing and implementing communication flows
Demonstrated success in process improvement and operational efficiency
Excellent analytical, project management, and communication skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills??
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success as well as working with broadly diverse communities?
Ability to understand and effectively use complex student information systems??
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in a relevant field?
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Experience administering a CRM system (preferably Slate) for admission or enrollment
The ability to analyze and interpret statistics and data?
A solution-oriented disposition and ability to approach situations with creativity and innovation?
Experience with marketing and communications for a 16-24 year old audience.
