General Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field. No experience required. Knowledge of Sam Houston State new student recruitment activities, admissions policies, and university procedures would be helpful. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Responsible for managing an assigned recruitment territory and guiding prospective students from inquiry through enrollment. Engages in outreach, relationship building, and data-informed recruitment strategies to attract and enroll students who align with the University's mission and goals. Supports institutional enrollment success through strategic communication, territory management, and collaborative engagement with internal and external partners.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Plans and executes transfer-focused recruitment travel, presentations, and outreach within assigned community college partnerships, regions, and feeder institutions. Serves as the primary point of contact for community college advisors, faculty, and administrators, building and sustaining relationships that support transfer enrollment growth. Engages prospective transfer students through community college visits, transfer fairs, classroom presentations, virtual engagement, and one-on-one appointments. Provides individualized guidance on degree options, credit transferability, admissions requirements, and enrollment steps. Manages proactive and timely communication with prospective transfer students using the CRM, phone calls, text messaging, and email outreach. Coordinates and supports transfer-specific recruitment and yield events, including transfer days, advising workshops with the SAM Center, campus visit programs, and partnership programming with community colleges. Maintains accurate records of student interactions, advisor engagement, and event outcomes within the CRM. Analyzes transfer funnel data to track application, admission, and enrollment progress, adjusting strategies to improve outcomes. Tracks KPIs and assists with reporting ROI and effectiveness of transfer recruitment initiatives. Builds collaborative relationships with internal campus partners including academic colleges, advising units, athletics, alumni relations, and enrollment services to support transfer student success and consistent messaging. Serves as lead for one or more specialized focus areas, which may include: community college advisor engagement; local student initiatives and community partnerships; out-of-state or international recruitment; Athletics or Alumni Relations collaboration; digital and social media communications; academic program outreach and pipeline development; Specialized campus visit programs; etc.. Maintains professional knowledge of SHSU programs, scholarships, and admissions processes. Assists with admissions file review and application guidance when necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned.
